Bin it ...... Please

I’m new to Halesowen Town. New in terms of getting involved instead of just rolling up at the turnstiles. That’s tricky for me in understanding who does what and why. To an extent that is balanced out by my offering a new perspective. Seeing things with new eyes.
Walking along the Shed after the Barwell game, I was dismayed by the little piles of plastic glasses, plastic bottles and other litter just left on the concrete floor. It’s so disappointing that a minority of supporters can’t use the bins provided. Frankly, selfish too because litter doesn’t magically disappear. Perhaps long-term club people are wearily resigned to such mess. I was dismayed.
Volunteers Gary and Ryan Winter are in today (Wednesday) picking up all the litter.
What a waste of their valuable time for the 24/25 volunteers of the year. There are never enough volunteers and there are always important jobs that need doing. Proper jobs I mean - not cleaning up after others. Theirs is a time consuming and demoralising task. At the weekend, they’ll be doing it again. Its Forth Bridge stuff. When I was at school, litter picking was reserved for pupils who misbehaved. It isn’t a punishment but our hard-pressed volunteers could easily slip into that mind-set.
At my previous club, enthusiasm for cleaning up other supporters dropping waned dramatically. So much so that the club were reluctantly forced into paying people to do the job. Such a waste of resource.
Come on guys and girls. Help us to help you. Bin your rubbish.
